How to Access Library Resources when Offsite

When working onsite (i.e. using a South West Healthcare computer), you will generally get immediate access to all library resources. IP Address authentication allows users to access if they are physically on-site.

Offsite Access to Clinicians Health Channel (CHC)

CHC is the Victorian state-wide portal for online health resources (drug resources, databases)

  1. Register for a CHC Account
  2. You can use a personal email if you are registering when onsite, otherwise a @swh.net.au address must be used if registering offsite / from a personal device.


Offsite Access to ClinicalKey (Elsevier Journals & eBooks)

  1. Access ClinicalKey while using a work computer.

  2. Select Register on the top right hand corner.

  3. Fill in the required details, please make sure you use you SWH email address, then select on Register.

  4. Select the three horizontal bars in the top right hand corner.

  5. Select Remote Access, and then enter your SWH email again.

  6. Open the App Store on your mobile device, download the app and sign in to your ClinicalKey account. Or visit https://www.clinicalkey.com.au/ on your home computer and login with the details you signed up with.


Offsite Access to EBSCO Discovery Service

When signed in with a MyEBSCO account, you can use the features of the Dashboard to permanently save and manage your research. Account benefits:

  • Sync with the mobile app - Take your research on the go. Search, read and listen in the app!
  • Download eBooks - Access thousands of eBook titles to read and download.
  • Create projects- Keep your research organized within custom projects.
  • Save your research- Never lose your search queries, or documents again.

Create a MyEBSCO account:

To authorise your account you must first access EBSCO on-site.

  1. Starting in EBSCO Discovery Service
  2. Click MyEBSCO in the top right corner of the page and then Create an account.
  3. MyEBSCO accounts can be created using one of the following methods:
  • Email address
  • Google (Gmail) account, where the user can create and access their MyEBSCO account with their existing Google credentials.
  • Username

How do I reauthorize my account when the affiliation has expired?

If you try to access your library’s resources with your MyEBSCO account but the affiliation has expired (typically after 90 days), you’ll see an error message that says “We need to authorize your account.” To  do this follow the below steps; 

  1. On a SWH compute,r starting in EBSCO Discovery Service
  2. Click MyEBSCO in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Click Sign in. 


Offsite Access to Wiley Online Library (Wiley Journals)

Wiley Online Library account:
  1. Go to Wiley Online Library. while you working on a network computer / on-site.
  2. Click on Login / Register in the top right hand corner of the page.
  3. Select Individual Login
  4. Select Sign Up
  5. Sign up with your prefered email, you will be sent a verification code to this email address. 
Your Wiley profile will automatically affiliate with your institution, and you will be able to access your institution’s licensed content by logging in to Wiley Online Library for 60 days.

Your affiliation will renew for another 60-day period each time you log in to your Wiley account while connected to your campus network.


Offsite Access to UpToDate

  1. Go to UpToDate (this must be done on a South West Healthcare computer)
  2. Complete the Registration form (orange Register button at top right)
  3. You will now be able to login when visiting the UpToDate site when offsite
  4. You can also install the UpToDate app (Android / iOS) on your phone and log in.
  5. Every 3 months, an email will prompt you to log into UpToDate (on a South West Healthcare computer) to maintain access.  


Offsite Access to Outlook, People Hub (SharePoint) & Microsoft Applications

To access Outlook, SharePoint, Teams or other work related Microsoft programs on your phone you will need to first have Microsoft Authenticator set up, follow the instructions for setting up your multi-factor authentication.

SharePoint, Teams, Outlook mobile apps for Android and iOS

  1. Download the Microsoft SharePoint app from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. When you launch the SharePoint app, you might be asked to add an account. Sign in to SharePoint Online. Your account is your South West Healthcare email address. You will be taken to a SWARH Login page. Use your South West Healthcare email & password.
  3. Authenticate your login with Microsoft Authenticator.

You can also download Outlook to access emails, and Teams to access your departments communication channel and online meetings.

Note: Android devices will also need Intune Company Portal set up.
